My Neighborhood

These are some pictures I took on my walk home.

There are roadside fruit stands everywhere full of amazing perfectly ripe fruit! avocados, mangoes, oranges, papaya, etc are all, at the most, KSh 30 (about $0.40).

This road marks the beginning of Toi Market.

In the heart of Toi! I am discovering that it is really dangerous for me to live in one of the largest and cheapest outdoor thrift stores in the world.... The other day I bought two skirts for KSh 100 each (about $1.30).

In addition to clothes and fruit they sell all the household staples, including beans, maize, vegetables, fish, etc

Walking home along some empty stalls... On the right hand side are many small rooms made of metal sheeting called "hotelis" which are basically just little diners where they make homemade chapati and mandazi (yumm..)

There is writting like this all over the city, especially in Kibera. Most of them say "Keep Peace" signed by a mysterious Solo 7.

This is my street!
